which companies to target for getting a good start in aviation career, Pros and Cons (Merits & Demerits) of this course etc.

Therefore, definitely it’s going to be a lengthy yet interesting article for those who really looking to join BBA Aviation course in the year 2020.

History of Aviation Industry

The History of not only this course, But also this entire industry started back in 17th of December 1903 when Wright brothers successfully tested the worlds first controlled Aeroplane known as Wright
Flyer
, Flying for almost 6Kms at North Carolina of United States. We should remember this invention which transformed the Man kind travel today as the beginning of BBA Aviation courses.

Origin of BBA Aviation at United States for the first time in the World:

BBA in Aviation course is known to be first introduce at Oklahoma University (Founded in 1890) in United States of America. The time when there was a massive revolution of Both Commercial and Defense Airplanes manufacturing by companies such as Boeing, SAAB, Airbus etc., Along with the development of many Airports and airline companies at United sates back in 1960s.

The Manufacturers of defense jets (Fighter planes) were fighting with each other to sell them all in a better rate to other countries.

Producers of commercial flights were competing to sell them to various airline companies with bulk orders.

Government of USA were building new airports for a massive airline transportation for quick growth of the nation.

Airline companies were getting many bookings but were no clue on how to manage them all. The Government had no idea how to manage 100s of airports with a very minimal professional who know the basics of aviation industry that too Aeronautical Engineers, not Management experts. Fighter Jets manufacturers were looking for management professionals who know the basics of aviation industry who are good marketers of their fighter jets to present in front of other nation’s Presidents and Prime ministers and defense ministers.

This is the time many major universities in US started a course called BBA in Aviation / BBM in Airport Management/ Bachelor of Aviation especially at Oklahoma university.

It was a huge success, When good Colleges were produced the best Aviation management professionals who already have good exposure into airports and aviation industry with proper theoretical and practical studies. The American Defense companies invited those aviation professionals with good salary packages, Commercial airline companies hired half of them for the smooth running of their Aero plane fleets and efficient operations at airport. The US Government started hiring Aviation management professionals for various newly built Airports as Airport Admins to run the airport smoothly.

It was a golden time for those people who pursued aviation courses in those periods as most of them are still at the topmost strategic decision-making positions of American Aviation Ministry and Airport
administrators now.

Current Scenario/Situation or scope of the BBA Aviation and Aviation industry in India:

First of all, I would look to remind you the scenario what was happened at western countries and especially United Sates few decades ago in the aviation industry. Fortunately, India is at the same stage now.

Delhi NCR

Jewar airport, which was initially planned to have four runways, will now have six runways as the UP cabinet recently gave a heads up to that. The new airport will reduce load on Delhi’s IG Intl Airport and much like it, will have international connectivity with USA, UK, Singapore, Australia and the Middle East.

Karnataka

India’s third busiest airport – the Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport is expecting a 70% surge in passenger traffic over the next two years. Bangalore International Airport Authority (BIAL), which owns and operates it has announced an investment of $2 billion for a new terminal and a second runway.

Tamil Nadu

To come up at Cheyyur near the scenic East Coast Road (about 100km south of Chennai) will be Chennai’s second international airport. An aero city may come up around it.

Odisha

The PM recently inaugurated an airport in Jharsuguda – also known as the powerhouse of Odisha. It is the first airport in Odisha to provide connectivity to Bhubaneshwar, Raipur and Ranchi under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) – UDAN.

Andhra Pradesh

Bhogapuram Airport, a greenfield international airport project about 40 km from Visakhapatnam, being built by the Bhogapuram International Airport Company Limited (BIACL), as part of an aerotropolis, which will also have a Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility along with an Aviation Academy. The airport will be developed by the Government of Andhra Pradesh under PPP model, and is expected to be completed by 2022.

Moreover, Hon’ble Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced in the 2020 union budget as India is going to build new 100 Airports within the next 5 years.

India Projected to have 50,000 job openings for BBA Aviation professionals in the next 3 to 5 years

Each small airport would have an average of 2500 job openings as per the report. This number would be 10,000+ when its in major international airports such as Bangalore International airport, Mumbai Airport, Delhi Airport etc. When 100 New airports are getting started, Its projected to have 2.5 Lakh job openings, In that 25% would be technical, 45% would be Blue-collar workers, 10% would be security staff and the remaining 20% is projected to be Aviation managers.

Here come the projected 50,000 job openings for BBA Aviation professionals in the next 3 to 5 years in the Government’s commercial airport sector.

Revolution in aviation sector under construction at Bangalore:

Every Flight should go through a compulsory maintenance after a particular hour of flying. Same as how we used to do the engine oil change and regular services for our bikes and cars, Its called Aircraft Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) Airports, Also known as Aero Maintenance Hanger facility.

Dubai, London and Singapore are the leading places in the world for all kinds of maintenance aero hangar in the for aeroplanes. Most of ours and Asian flights are depending on these aero maintenance hangar facility now from last many years.

Here comes the twist of the climax scene, One of the biggest Aero maintenance hangar facility in Asia is under construction at Devanahalli Bangalore, Adjacent to Kempagowda International Airport who can service the flights with half of the international market rate. Once this Hangar is launched, Almost 5000+ flights from all over Asia would expected to come up to Bangalore for its maintenance on a daily basis.

In that case, there would be Both Technical Aeronautical professionals openings to repair and also BBA Aviation Management professionals for the operations management of those airline companies would be there for sure. E.g. Emirates would need to open a full time office here in Bangalore and
employ a minimum of 100 employees to manage their flights. Its projected to be 15,000 openings once this project has launched.

Scope of BBA Aviation professionals in Defense Fighter Jet Manufacturing segment at Bangalore

We could see many stronger joint venture undertakings are coming up as a part of Make in India campaign. The most important alliance in this sector are the joint operations between the world’s No.1 Fighter jet manufacturer Dassault Aviation from France joined hands with India’s Reliance group and HAL Ltd to manufacture the Raffale Fighter jets which is ranked as the Topmost fighter jet in the world now as per the reports.

Major buyer would be Indian Airforce itself but the Joint Venture investing around Rs.1000 Crores in Devanahalli Bangalore is not only to deliver the fighters for India, But also to build and sell them to
other nations.

Likewise, Mahindra aerospace and Canada’s Viking air Ltd. Joint Venture to form multi role planes here in Bangalore to make rural transportation easier.

Other international players such as Airbus, Saab and Rolls-Royce aviation etc. are acquiring lands at Bangalore to setup their new base to manufacture fighter jets and to sell them to various Asian and middle east nations.

Since the production cost would be 40% less than when its compared with Europe, These firms can sell it with better prices. Already many countries like Srilanka, Singapore, Israel, Indonesia etc. shown interest to buy these fighter jets once manufactured in Bangalore, India.

Therefore, it’s a huge opportunity what is going to open up for BBA Aviation & Airport Management professionals within the next 3 years. Luckily you are at the exact time period now, which is far better than what happened at United States on the aviation revolution few decades ago (Hope you have gone through this America’s story in the beginning of article).

Ideal Location/City to study BBA Aviation & Airport Management Course:

In Simple words, Its a huge revolution which is going to happen in Indian Aviation sector especially at Bangalore as the center/nucleus for all the upcoming developments. It’s the right time to get into BBA in Aviation course from a Good College having proper internships and training sessions at Airports.

Instead they prefer to go and get the right candidates from the same or nearest cities.
